Ocean Isle Community Center
This town-sponsored center located at 44 East 1st Street has free Children's programs each week day during the summer. These are fun filled events like arts and crafts, buried treasure hunts, beach games and storytime. There is free public parking and restroom facilities.
Friday Night Concerts
Free concerts are held between Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends at the Museum of Coastal Carolina's parking lot-folks bring chairs starting at about 5:30 pm to listen to a night of music under the stars. Sunset Properties is one of the event sponsors-please enjoy!
The Waterfront Market at Ocean Isle Beach
The Waterfront Markets are excited to announce a new Market in Ocean Isle Beach, NC coming this summer. It will be held in town center enclosed in a sunny and grassy field located where the breezes from the ocean can be felt and the sound of the surf can be heard. The Market will be weekly on Monday beginning May 1, 2017 through September 11, 2017 from 9 am until 2 pm.

Museum of Coastal Carolina
Museum of Coastal Carolina is located at Ocean Isle. Great for the kids. Standing exhibits on the beach tides, local animals and fish. Sunset Properties is proud to be a sponsor of the 'touch tank' where kids can see and feel some of the creatures of the sea. Watch for special speakers and events that the museum hosts throughout the year. One of the regular events is a weekly Turtle Talk at the museum during the summer on Monday nights at 7 pm. We have an active turtle program-in 2012, there were 24 turtle nests on Ocean Isle Beach, and 8 on Sunset Beach. Come learn about the turtles-admission is free with regular admission to the Museum. Ingram Planetarium is a state of the art facility located on the mainland in Sunset Beach. It includes a theater for rotating shows about the sky and a science and education center, and a gift shop. Click on their link for show schedules.

Southport, North Carolina
Southport, North Carolina is about a 45 minute drive from the island. It is a small boating town with antique shops to browse, boats to watch, and good places to eat. A Maritime Museum is located in town as well. A nice half day trip is a visit to Bald Head Island out of Southport. You reach it via a ferry, and can tour North Carolina's oldest lighthouse among other sites on the island.
Other Day Trip Ideas:
Wilmington is about an hour drive from Ocean Isle Beach. It has plenty of downtown shops to visit, several museums and the Battleship NC to tour, and many restaurants.
North Myrtle Beach is about 30 minutes from Ocean Isle Beach. Plenty of factory outlets for the shoppers, and theme shows and restaurants for nightlife. A great family attraction is Ripley's Aquarium located at Broadway at the Beach on Bypass 17.
There are several restaurants located just off the island at the Sunset Beach bridge. There are a handful who are members of our PERKS CLUB. Calabash home of "Calabash-style seafood" is about a ten minute drive from Sunset Beach and offers a number of additional restaurants. The theme restaurants of Myrtle Beach are also a big hit with our guests-they are a 20 to 30 minute drive from the island.
Causeway Gourmet (Ocean Isle Beach)
Causeway Gourmet (Ocean Isle Beach) has great gourmet deli and is located before you drive over the Odell Williamson bridge in Ocean Isle Beach. Well known in the area for great service and delicious food. They feature a large menu perfect for a light lunch or early dinner. As part of our PERKS CLUB, Causeway Gourmet offers our guests $1 off each entree.
Sunset Slush (Sunset Beach)
When you visit the island, try some refreshing Italian Ice. Sunset Slush is the ONLY place to get REAL Italian Ice in town.
